Biography
Evan is an X-ray Scientist within NASA Johnson Space Center’s (JSC) Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) division under the Jacobs-JETS contract. Before joining JSC, Evan conducted research related to martian geobiology during his undergrad at Towson University and completed his Master of Science degree at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where his thesis was focused on research related to martian igneous petrology. Currently, Evan uses his geologic expertise by working with X-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy to better understand a wide range of unique geological samples in 2D as well as 3D orientations. As one of the X-Ray scientists working in the Astromaterials X-ray Fluorescence and Computed Tomography (X-FaCT) Laboratory, Evan assists in providing analytical services for both curation and research purposes for internal and external X-ray CT (Nikon XTH 320) and µXRF (Bruker M4 Tornado Plus) users at Johnson Space Center.
