Biography
Dr. Cline is a scientist working as part of NASA’s Hypervelocity Impact Technology (HVIT) team at NASA Johnson Space Center. His research interests have been mainly focused on the deformation of materials through a large span of temporal and spatial scales. This has encompassed seeking to understand the influence that crystalline defects have on creep mechanisms in minerals at extreme conditions during his graduate research, to investigating the physical processes of impact crater formation in his previous role as a member of the Experimental Impact Laboratory (EIL) at NASA JSC. His current work involves the design and hypervelocity testing of shield configurations used to protect spacecraft from the damaging effects of impacts by micrometeoroids and orbital debris (MMOD).
